Ski Areas in Australia
-Home to 10 ski areas of varying sizes all of which can be found in the Southeastern corner of the country in the territories of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. All of the ski areas are subject to fragile freezing levels due to relatively low base altitudes, and quality of snow conditions can vary wildly season to season. Most areas are very scenic and reside within the boundaries of National Parks.
Ben Lomond (TAS)

Founded in 1929 by the Northern Tasmanian Alpine Club, the Ben Lomond Ski Area is the oldest and largest ski area on the Australian Island of Tasmania.
The ski area is located inside of the Ben Lomond National Park and offers both lift served Alpine skiing via a series of 7 t-bars and pomas and also has Nordic skiing available.
The base area has a public lodge, tavern, and rentals building, along with several buildings owned by the local ski clubs.
Famous For:
-Famous for, well, skiing in Tasmania. Quite a unique experience. Ben Lomond is on of only 2 ski areas in Tasmania and is the island’s largest ski area.
Infamous For:
-Low snow totals with sporadic storms and warming periods that cause freezing levels to rise.
-No chairlifts of any kind, only surface tows.
