China Peak (CA)

Nestled in the Southern Sierra Nevada with road access from the Western lowlands is a quaint and unique California ski area with a lot of history.

China Peak, formerly Sierra Summit Mountain Resort, is located in the beautiful Sierra National Forest at Huntington Lake, just 65 miles northeast of Fresno, an easy drive up Highway 168. This premier Central California resort offers terrain to challenge all abilities of both skiers and snowboarders. Seven chairlifts, three surface lifts and a moving carpet lift service over 1,400 acres, 45+ runs, two terrain parks and a skier/boarder cross, and a vertical drop of over 1,650 feet. 

 

Famous For:

-Great views, slopeside lodging, and a cool ownership.

-Membership with 2 reciprocal ski passes: The Powder Alliance and the Indy Pass.

-Boating, biking and tons of other outdoors activities during the off-season.

-One of the only mountain resorts in the nation to allow/offer RV parking near the slopes.

 

Infamous For:

-Low relative altitude, and low snowfall.

-Due to limited snowmaking and low altitude, China Peak has been known to struggle with terrain opening in low snow seasons.

The closest town with lodging for this ski area is: Ski In / Ski Out lodging is available at China Peak with a hotel situated at the base area. Limited other lodging is available along CA 168 between China Peak and Fresno, CA.

The closest major city with a commercial airport for this ski area is: Fresno, CA. which is 67 miles away to the Southwest via CA 168.
